Last year nearly 250 cyclists took part and it was a great family day out. The unique blend of 2 rides included the same 10 mile flat/family ride, as last year, with refreshments half way round, and an 'undulating' ride of more than 30 miles for the more experienced cyclist.
Southam 2000 Rotary Club recently supported a training course for parents in partnership with Warwickshire County Council Adult and Community Learning, Fosse Foodbank at Southam and Southam and District Children’s Centre. The purpose was to explore cooking and food with users of the foodbank. The course ran over four weeks and provided a free creche for participants. As can be seen from the pictures below, the courses were thoroughly enjoyed and produced some impressive results; enjoyed by both the participants and helpers!
The Rotary Club of Southam 2000 has raised £1185 to buy a Syringe Drive for The Shakespeare Hospice. The Syringe Drive allows the hospice nurses to regulate a constant feed of medicine to a patient over a 24 hour period in their own homes.
A Syringe Drive is often used towards the end of a patients’ life and helps them to feel more comfortable. Hospice at Home Nurse, Chrissie MacDonald says “Although they are very expensive items, they are invaluable to the team and to the patients that use them. This is the third Syringe Drive our hospice has.”
