District Governor's Newsletter for April 2012

March has seen the culmination of the Youth Competitions programme. The organisers are to be congratulated in giving those taking part an opportunity of a life time to demonstrate their skills and personalities to a wider audience. We can be proud that if it was not for Rotary this particular opportunity would not have been possible. My thanks to Clubs and organisers for supporting this part of our service in the Community.

Well the Winter seems to have passed without the repeat of the heavy falls of snow experienced last year.

In anticipation of a similar winter, and not wishing to be kept at home, instead of attending important Rotary visits and events Sheila suggested we should consider buying a all wheel drive car. My choice would be that in the photograph. Parking at some venues may have been awkward to say the least. Fortunately it was not required.

District Governor's Newsletter for January 2012

Christmas is now I hope a happy memory and Burns Night successfully celebrated. We are just awaiting the real Spring.  In the remaining six months of our Rotary Year there's lots to do. May I remind you of the emphasis that our RI President Kalyan set us in July last year.

FAMILY CONTINUITY CHANGE

These are still the watch words of our Rotary aims.

I know from many Clubs you have lots of things in the pipeline and wish you success in carrying them out. If you would like me or other members of the District Team with you, please ask.

District Governor's Newsletter for November 2011

On Stage in Shipston on Stour

There not a month goes by when Rotary isn't involved in a special event. November and December are not exceptions. I have had the pleasure of being involved in some of them.

Have you noticed that Club activities are being reported in the local News Papers more frequently? It is possible to get your story across. Well done to those who have succeeded in this area.

Bedworth Rotary present Service Awards

 District Conference

Another milestone on our journey has passed. The District Conference held in Llandudno was attended by 529 Rotarians and Guests. The Rotary Club of Handsworth were winners of both the Attendance Trophy and the Best Fancy Dress Trophy. There were many other memorable highlights during the weekend, the demonstration of the work of the Dogs for the Disabled Charity being just one. The total raised from Club donations at the Saturday evening Ball collection is £8084.00.

District Governor's Newsletter for September 2011

DG at Coventry Phoenix

I have just been proof reading the District Conference Programme and it reminds me that in about four weeks time we will be travelling to Llandudno for what promises to be a wonderful weekend if the programme is anything to go by. It is still not too late to register.

District Governor's Newsletter for August 2011

DG with Ketchup

Nearly two months already behind me. Where does the time go? Well, at the present it is being taken up by the very enjoyable “official” District Governor visits to our Clubs. All 28 Clubs visited so far have extended a warm welcome to me, and when accompanied by Sheila, to both of us. It really proves the importance of fellowship with a meal in the Club programme. The gentle leg pulling and friendly banter that makes a club fun too, comes over at all the meetings. Thanks to you all for your hospitality.

District Governor's Newsletter for July 2011

RIBI President 2011/2012 Ray Burman Visits RYLA in District 1060

At the beginning of July I duly received the District Governor’s Regalia from District Governor  2010-11 Rtn David J Butler.

The traditional Handover ceremony was held at Drayton Manor Park at a luncheon attended by Rotarian Families and Guests. DG David proudly gave us all an abbreviated record of the highlights of his year. It was a mixture of Rotary Service, charity support, and an example of a District in good health.
