Secretaries Newsletter for November 2012
It was decided at the last District Executive meeting on the 31st October that in future all minutes of Council, Executive and District Committees will be made available in a members’ only access area of the District web site.
This link http://1060.org.uk/documents will take you to the documents but you will need to log on to view them. At the same time, Executive would encourage Clubs to make their minutes available on their own web sites if they do not already do so.
Also I have now put a copy of the District Standing Orders on the web site reflecting the changes made at the last Council meeting. Use the same link asabove, i.e http://1060.org.uk/documents
Solihull RC will not be meeting at their usual venue on the 29th November.. They are organizing a Senior Citizens’ Concert that evening.
Solihull St. Alphege are organising a Come Dancing Gala Evening on the 23rd November at the Motorcycle Museum featuring the String of Pearls Big Band and demonstration dances. Proceeds will go to the Marie Curie Cancer Care Big Build Appeal. Visit www.rotarystalphege.org.uk for full details and ticket information.
Handsworth Club will not be meeting on the 20th/27th December or the 3rd January.
If any other Club wishes to give notice of change of meeting place or dates around Christmas/New year can I suggest that you use 1060 news because my next newsletter is likely to be circulated close to the holiday period.
Equality & Diversity:
a reminder to all Clubs that if you have not already done so you should sign up to the RIBI Policy on Equality and Diversity (E & D). Additionally Clubs shouldhave procedures in place for complying with both the E & D Policy and the H & S policy including renewing the commitment on an annual basis.
Special General Meeting;
A reminder that Clubs should hold a Special General meeting before the 31st December to elect Officers for the ensuing year and to receive and approve the accounts for the year ended 30th June.
The Rotary Club of Rugby raises money for The Rotary Foundation through its Rotary Memorabilia Project. This enables Clubs to celebrate a special event/anniversary with a unique edition mug and also for a Club President to commemorate the year of office with a Presidential plate. Contact Frank Drewett for more information.
RIBI Board Members
All Club Secretaries should have had the documentation from RIBI for the election of the Board Members. Club votes have to be cast by 5th December. If thedetails have not arrived then contact RIBI quickly. Our own Dave Roberts (Membership team leader & Web Master) is one of the candidates.
A circular about selection for the GSE Teams to go out to the Caribbean and to Brazil in 2013 will be circulated to Clubs at the District Council Meeting on 21st November. We are going to need a Rotarian Team Leader for each team and 4 Team Members for each. Just a reminder that the team going to the Caribbean is to be a vocational team specialising in medical aspects and the team going to Brazil will be expected to at least learn a bit of Portugese even if they cannot speak it. Time is short with the first team going out in March and please attend to this urgently.
As always thank you to those that have done so but will you please let me have any changes in Membership numbers, gains or losses, so that the statistical information can be kept up to date. Information is welcome by e mail, letter or via the web site link.
