Eliminating Polio
Rotarians will be aware of the aim to eliminate polio in the world. With the help of Bill Gates charity Rotary Foundation volunteers have been vaccinating young children in great numbers until only Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Nigeria are affected.
Eradicating Polio - 2
On Sunday November 13 Ken Scivyer, from Monkspath Rotary, and son Mark helped immunize over 450 infants against polio in the high risk slums of Badaun, India,. For about six hours children were brought to centres in the village where Rotarians and health workers applied two drops of vaccine into the mouth.
Polio Eradication
Preparations to depart for India are being made in the next two days.
Apart for many donations of pens,pencils, toys etc. money has been donated by individuals and Monkspath RC. This will be held in reserve and used to help with any project we come upon which requires support and which we will have personal knowledge.
