We are keen to promote the work that many of you are involved in in District 1060 as well as keep you informed of the work done in RIBI and RI international. Please ask if you have any queries and we will do our best to help you. Our policy is to try an d provide as much inforation through newsletters and links to websites as we can to help clubs find international projects and projects to find clubs to support them. We will also support RIBI in responding to disasters which is either to donate to the box projects or the joint national appeals through DEC which they suggested for the Somali drought.
Always consider our own charity Foundation. If you want support for any particular club projects please ask and we can circulate and also ask RIBI where needed.
You may find ProjectLink a useful source of inspiration.
Thanks for your enthusiasm - Peter Roberts, Peter Mayer & Bob Mowle

Good evening to all District International Service Chairmen, Club Presidents, and my fellow Rotarians
Some ten days ago we received the following message from Rotarian Francis Dykmans of the Rotary Club of Puntilla, Guayaquil, Ecuador:
Let's Celebrate World Polio Day
Rotary across the world is celebrating involvement in the eradication of polio. Today, the 24th of October marks the birthday of Dr. Jonas Salk, who developed the world’s first safe and effective vaccine against this crippling and sometimes deadly disease.
This week also sees the publication of an independent monitoring board report on the global effort. The tone is blunt, and urges us to ensure we complete the campaign, saying:

Urgent Appeal for RIBI linked project in Iramba
A project in Tanzania that RIBI has been funding is in its final stages. We have come so far with this project and have provided thousands of people with a lasting supply of safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.
However, there is still a lot of work to do in order to reach everyone and we urgently need to drill 6 new boreholes and rehabilitate 8 shallow dug wells.
We are looking for a final push in funding between now and World Water Day, 22nd March 2012, to finalize this work.
