International Service encompasses efforts to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the world and to promote world understanding and peace. It includes everything from contributing to PolioPlus to helping Rotary Youth Exchange students adjust to their host countries.
The Rotary Club of Southam 2000 Help Local Primary Schools Plant 5000 Crocuses as Part of Rotary’s Purple4Polio Campaign
Rotary International’s present campaign ‘Purple4Polio’ aims to plant millions of purple crocus corms across the country to help raise awareness of how important it is to end polio now and forever. The purple crocus is a symbol of this campaign, with its colour representing the purple dye used to mark the finger of a child to indicate they have received their life saving oral polio vaccine.

The 5,000 purple Crocus bulbs planted in 5 locations across Redditch last Autumn are now in full flower, and members of the Rotary Club of Redditch were out and about last week installing signs to raise public awareness of Rotary's 'End Polio Now' campaign.
For over 30 years, Rotary and its members have been committed to fighting to eradicate polio across the world. The number of polio-endemic countries has dropped from 125 to just three, with over 2.5 billion children receiving vaccinations thanks to the help of Rotary.
